Chris Shaw
I am 16 years of age and have been training in Muay Thai Boxing since I was 4 years of age and this continues to date.
After being involved in the sport I then went onto the grading system. I achieved all grades to level of Red Arm Band aged 11 years which was at Senior Level.
- Aged 14 years I graded Red/White Arm Band at Senior Level.
- Aged 15 years I graded Red/White/Yellow Arm Band at Senior Level and I am the youngest S.T.B.A. student to hold this grade.
- July 2002 I was selected to represent Scotland at the Kings World Cup Championship in Bangkok and won a bronze medal. I am currently ranked 3rd in the world at 48kg division in Muay Thai Boxing.
- November 2003 - won Scottish Amateur Title at 50kg in Ayr.
- May 2005 - won Scottish Amateur Title at 64kg in Motherwell.
- September 2005 - successfully defended Scottish Title at 64kg in Clelland.
- October 2005 - won British Title at 64kg in Ayr.
I currently hold 2 Scottish Titles and a British Title.
To date I have had 23 fights, 20 wins, 2 loses and 1 draw.
I train 5 times per week, weight train twice per week and train Thai
Boxing 6 hours per week. I have had private tuition in Thai Boxing
since I was 9 years of age.
I am an instructor at the Wossobama Gym and have taught for 4 years.
I have been very fortunate to train at the Fairtex Gym in Bangkok.
In May 2006 I won the South Ayrshire Scottish Sports Council Junior Sports Personality of the Year Award.
I am presently at college doing a course in Sports, Health & Fitness along with working at the Wossobama Gym.
